about us
Gold Coast Animal Blood Bank is a combined effort of Veterinary Specialist Services and Animal Emergency Services. We work out of the same facility and share many resources. We are currently expanding our blood bank, which is why we are reaching out for more donors. The way that dog blood donation works is that we make a collection, and that donation is processed to split it into blood and plasma, meaning that each donation can make up to 3 bags of product, and save up to 3 lives!
Pet blood donations can often mean the difference between life and death for veterinary patients. Blood transfusions are often a crucial treatment in saving a beloved pet’s life when threatened by illness, disease, trauma, surgery, snake bites, or poisoning incidents.
Unfortunately, blood can only be stored for six weeks, so regular donations from our generous donors are very welcomed and required to help us have this life-saving product available to our patients. While it’s not a well-known fact, pet blood donations are critical and often mean the difference between life and death for sick pets.
